TRY is operated by Novapath Technologies Limited (“Novapath,” “we,” “us”). This policy explains what we collect from riders and drivers using the TRY app, why, and what rights you have over it.
This policy covers anyone using the TRY rider app, TRY driver app, or our website. If you are a driver, additional KYC-specific terms in Section 3 apply to you.
From all users (riders and drivers)
From drivers only (KYC / onboarding)
What we do not ask drivers for. We do not collect your driver's licence number and we do not collect government levy receipts. Earlier versions of this policy said we did; that was never true in the app, and the claim has been removed rather than the fields quietly added. Identity is established by your NIN against NIMC, and your right to be paid by your BVN against your bank. Neither of those needs a licence number sitting in our database.
We do not collect contacts, photos from your camera roll beyond what you explicitly choose to upload, browsing history, or data from other apps on your device. We do not ask any user for an email address or a date of birth. Riders give us a phone number and a name, and nothing else.
We process your data to create and secure your account, match riders with nearby available drivers, calculate fares and process trip payments, let riders verify they're getting into the correct tricycle, verify driver identity before allowing them to carry paying passengers, maintain an accurate financial ledger, comply with Nigerian transport and data protection regulations, and investigate disputes, fraud, or safety incidents.
We do not sell your data to advertisers or third parties.
Trip and ledger records are retained indefinitely as financial/audit records, even after an account is deleted, because Nigerian tax and commercial recordkeeping obligations require it. These records are no longer linked to your active profile once your account is deleted. Driver KYC documents are retained for as long as the driver account is active, and for a reasonable period after closure. Live GPS pings are not retained beyond what's needed to complete the active trip.
Identity numbers are the exception, and we keep less than the law allows us to. Your NIN and BVN are used for their verification check and then discarded. Only the last four digits of each are stored, together with the fact that the check passed and when. We hold no copy of either number, so there is nothing for anyone to take. A NIN cannot be reissued if it leaks, and we saw no reason to carry that risk on your behalf once the check we needed it for was complete.
You can, at any time, delete your account from within the app. This removes your personal profile from our active systems (trip and ledger records survive as anonymized financial history). You can also request a copy of your data or ask us to correct inaccurate data by emailing info@novapath.ng. Under the NDPA, you also have the right to object to certain processing and to lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).
We use industry-standard practices to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and OTP-based authentication rather than passwords. No system is 100% secure, and we encourage you to keep your phone and SIM secure since phone number access is the primary key to your account.
TRY is not intended for use by anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be communicated in-app before they take effect.
